SUMMER SOLSTICE
BY TRIPP & HENRY
Longest daylight of the year,
Brings pure magic in the air.
There’s lots of wildlife at the weir:
Deer, ducks, fish, eagles, and even a bear!
Working diligently thinking we were in the clear,
Tying tiny knots with the utmost care.
Not looking behind the rusty fish weir
With the constant splash of cold rain against our hair
And the raging falls drowning out the ear.
At the blink of an eye, we had a scare
Two adorable cubs were hungry and near.
We jumped up and screamed “Hey bear! Hey bear”
Oh, how we trembled in fear.
Now aware they wouldn’t dare
Approach us- fully equipped with our deterrent gear.
Noticing mama’s startled glare, we knew she’d been here for more than a year.
As they retrieved, we couldn’t help but stare
The two adorable cubs slippin’,
on this rusty fish weir.
